What is counted.
01 — Moving
Car, flights, public transport. A long-haul trip is heavy: radiative forcing is included, roughly.
02 — Home and plate
Heating shared across occupants, a lump-sum diet. Electricity follows the French mix, which is low-carbon.
03 — Read the result
Tonnes CO₂e / year, compared with France, the world and ~2 t for 2 °C. Tweak it — this is not a lab.
(03) — FAQ
Short answers.
- Is this an official carbon audit?
- No. Factors are orders of magnitude, aligned with public ADEME / Base Carbone-style data and the French grid. A real audit uses a practitioner and your actual bills.
- Why the French electricity mix?
- The site is published from the Jura. A kWh weighs far less here than in Poland or Germany. If you live elsewhere, electric heating will be understated.
- Are flights overstated?
- A short round trip is ~0.6 t, a long-haul ~2 t, radiative forcing included. The numbers are round on purpose: an honest order of magnitude beats fake precision.
- Where are digital, clothes, banking?
- Under “Stuff”, in three intensities. Digital and finance vary too much for a single slider without lying. The lump sum covers the order of magnitude.
- Are my answers sent anywhere?
- No. Everything stays in this browser’s localStorage. No account, no API.
