02 — Format
WebP is usually lightest. JPEG for compatibility. PNG often ignores quality (lossless).

Short answers.
- As good as Squoosh?
- No. This is the browser encoder (quality 0.1–1). For expert WebP, MozJPEG or AVIF, Squoosh is the reference.
- GIF, SVG, HEIC?
- No. JPEG, PNG, WebP, sometimes AVIF/BMP. Animated GIF and SVG are out.
- Is anything sent to a server?
- No. The image is read and re-encoded in the tab.
